• What are Novik products made of?

  We use an innovative polymer blended with UV stabilizers. These additives improve our products’ resistance to extreme conditions. Novik uses only virgin materials, which enables us to ensure product consistency and resistance.

• Can I be sure of the quality of Novik products?

  Novik products are certified and tested in independent laboratories. For example, our products are guaranteed to withstand winds up to 150 mph and maintain their resistance even under extreme temperatures (-40°F to 158°F). Plus, our products are class 4 rated against impact and covered by a lifetime limited warranty.

• What differentiates Novik sidings from the competition?

• What do you offer for corners and for around windows?

  Matching corners are available for all our sidings. Novik also offers color-matched J-channels for framing windows.

• Is there an ideal temperature for installing Novik products?

  Novik products can be installed at any temperature. You simply have to be more cautious when installing product under freezing point.

• Should I use caulk when installing Novik products?

  No. Mounting blocks, moldings and other accessories are available to hide siding cuts.

• Will I have to repaint my Novik product after a few years?

  No. Novik products are virtually maintenance-free. Working with its industrial partners, Novik has developed color pigments, additives and UV stabilizers that are uniformly blended into the polymer, guaranteeing resistance to streaking and discoloration.

• Can Novik products be painted?

  No.

• How can I start installing a siding product in a space that does not allow the installation of a starter strip? Ex : narrow wall corner

  

  Siding: Install the bottom of the panel in a J-trim and fasten on the wall as usual. If needed, fasten the bottom of the panel hidden by the J-trim. Do not forget to pre-drill.

  Roofing: Install the bottom of the panel in a flashing and pre-drill.

   

• How do I install the last panel if the nailing channel had to be cut off?

  Drill holes in the panel and fasten as usual.

  N.B. : The diameter of the head of the nail as to be twice as big as the diameter of the hole drilled in the panel. For cedar plank and perfect shake panels, drill oblong holes to allow expansion and contraction of the panel.

• What distance should I leave between each furring strip?

  Ideally, as close as possible to one another or at a 45 degrees angle.The installer might have to add some furring strips between the ones already in place.

• How do I proceed if my wall is made of cement blocks?

  This is a case by case matter. The wall has to offer adequate nailing surfaces to install your Novik product.

• Do all starter strips have to be installed at the same distance from the corner of the wall?

  No. Required distance from the corner of the wall will vary from a product to another. Please refer to your installation guide.

• What is the minimum quantity of nails required per panel? Do all products require the same amount of nails?

• What kind of nails should I use?

  Galvanized roofing nails 2 inches lenght

• What do I do if I had to cut off the central nailing point on the panel I want to install?

  Drill a new central nailing point at the middle of the piece you want to install.

• How do I start installing Hand split shakes corners?

  Cut the upper part of a corner and use it as a starter.

• How do I install Half round panels using starter clips?

  Put three (3) clips per panel and install the clips about ¼’’ higher than the bottom of the panel.

• For the second row, what distance do I have to calculate from the corner of the wall if I don’t want my panels to be aligned on the same sequence?

  8’’or 16’’.

• How do I safely cut this product and what tool should I use?
  • Skill saw;
  • Jig saw;
  • Table saw;
  • Cutters;
  • Knife;
  • Buffer with metal blade;
  • Mitre saw.

  Be careful using electrical tools when temperature is near freezing point.

• How do I install Novik siding above an other thicker siding?

  Use a transition molding.

• How do the Novik product boxes should be stored?

  Boxes should lay flat in a dry location.

• What accessories are available for putting the finishing touches on my exterior?

  Novik offers gable vents, roof vents, polymer or aluminum columns, shutters and mounting blocks made from Novik’s unique innovative polymer. Add a finishing touch to your home.

• Should I always leave the same distance around the base of my gable vents and my siding product?

  Yes. Always leave 3/16’’.

• Why are mounting blocks useful?

  Mounting blocks are practical for hiding siding cuts and giving your home a complete finished look after installation. They are also strongly recommended in place of sealant and customers love them. Mounting blocks are inexpensive so why go without?

• What do I do if the door bell doesn’t stop ringing after installing the A-200 address kit?

  You shouldn’t experience this problem if your door bell is mechanical-electrical activated.

  If your door bell is plugged on an electric circuit, directly plug the address kit in the transformer.

• What is the smallest accepted diameter for A-400?

  3 inches

• When should I use the A-810 mounting block instead of the A-800?

  A-810 should be used when the siding is already installed on the house (PVC, fiber cement, etc.).

• What is the maximum weight the A-900 can take?

  The A-900 mounting block was designed for aesthetic purposes only. Object should be fixed to the solid wall and not on the mounting block.

• Can aluminum column bases be used for polymer columns as well?

  No.

• Does the length of the aluminum tube has to exceed the length of the polymer column?

  Yes. The tube should be 3/8’’ longer.

• What is the minimum/maximum slope for installing roof vents?

  Steep. Has to be CSA approved according to CAN3-A93-M82 norm. Refer to your municipality for definition of steep slope.

• What is the inner dimension of a round 6’’ column?

  Please refer to our aluminum column document.
